Serene Karen Phillips

Serene Karen Phillips, 80, of Manitowoc, formerly of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Azura Memory Care.

Serene was born on February 10, 1942 in Gary, Indiana to Dale and Agnes (Hietala) Lanter. She was a graduate of William A. Wirt High School in Gary, IN. On September 1, 1962, she married Dwight Phillips, he preceded her in death on September 25, 2015. Serene was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother.

Serene is survived by her children: Nancy (Raleigh) Ward, Long Lake, IL, Paula Phillips, Baltimore, MD, Pam (Shelby) Baize, Manitowoc, and Lucinda (Timothy) Clapper, Manitowoc; grandchildren: Jeffery (Abigail) Clapper, Shelby Read Baize III, Sarah Clapper, William (Marina) Baize, Hollace Ward, Emma Clapper, Phillip Baize, Michael Clapper, and Joshua Baize; and one great-grandchild: Jude Baize. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Serene was preceded in death by her parents: Dale and Agnes Lanter; her husband: Dwight; and one brother and sister-in-law: Dale and Jodell Lanter.
