Rita M. (Blindauer) Jansen

Rita M. Jansen, age 90, formerly of Two Rivers passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, at her daughter’s home.

Rita was born July 24, 1932, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Howard and Dorothy (Mazurek) Blindauer.  She was a graduate of Green Bay West High School with the Class of 1950.  On September 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to Harold C. Jansen in Green Bay.  He preceded her in death on June 25, 1991.

Rita worked as a homemaker and worked many years doing odd jobs, alongside her sister Lou Ann. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, she also enjoyed camping, and working outside in her yard. She will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, and her smile. 

Survivors include her four children daughter: Karen Strysick and best friend Doug Richter; daughter: Jacque (Donald) Hersey, son: Howie (Julia) Jansen and son: Kurt (Kalyn) Jansen. Also, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jacque/Don 3 children; Jake (Ashley and son Dylan), daughter: Stephanie (fiancé Andy Henning) 5 children Emily Matenaer, Elyse Hersey, Eli Hersey and Emmett and Evan Henning; and daughter: Trisha, 2 children Parker Boutillier and Lily Hersey. Howie (Julia); 3 children Sarah (Santos) Torres daughter Amelia, sons Jaret and Erick Jansen; Kurt (Kalyn); 3 children son Brian (daughter Vayda), daughter Abbey (Derek) Pawlitzke, their 2 children Colton and Anna. Rita was preceded in death by her parents Howard & Dorothy Blindauer, her husband Harold Jansen, two sons James Eric Jansen (5/28/1973) and Michael Robert Jansen (2/1/1955), her sister and brother-in-law: Lou Ann and Larry Gerroll and their daughter Joan, Her 2 brothers Mike and Jerry Blindauer, Grandson Jake Hersey (9/26/2020) and Brian Sonnenburg (4/17/2019).

Funeral services will be held at 12:00, noon on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo Blvd. (1120 N. 15th street), Manitowoc.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William O’Brien and the Rev. Doug LeCaptain. The burial will take place at Forestview Cemetery, Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 12:00 noon.
