Richard L. Swanson

Richard L. Swanson, age 79 of Manitowoc, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.

Richard was born on August 4, 1942 in Waukegan, IL son of the late Richard H. and Dorothy (Schoch) Swanson. The family moved to Wisconsin in 1956 where he graduated with the class of 1960 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Richard served in the Army National Guard. On April 24, 1965 he married the former Jo Marie Schroeder at Holy Innocents Church in Manitowoc. Richard worked at Paragon Electric Co. in Two Rivers for 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley. Richard was a lifelong member of the Viking Bow & Gun Club and the Wisconsin Bow Hunters Association.

Survivors include his wife Jo Marie (Schroeder) Swanson, Manitowoc; one son: Steve Swanson, Manitowoc; one grandson: Cavon Swanson, Two Rivers; five sisters-in-law: Sandra Feller, SD, Jean Klosterman, CT, Patti Watson, Lake Geneva, Sue (Tom) Anderson, Manitowoc, Teri Schroeder, Manitowoc; cousins: Ken & Laura Swanson and their children, Magnus and Anika, Waukegan, IL, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard H. and Dorothy Swanson; and one brother: Roger Swanson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Faith Church, 2201 South 42nd Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Jeremy Vance will officiate. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
