Richard Hubbartt Obituary

Richard J. Hubbartt, age 58, a Newton resident, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 28, 2021 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 1, 1963 in Manitowoc, son of Arlene (Glomski) Hubbartt and the late Ralph “Dick” Hubbartt. He attended Manitowoc Public Schools and was a 1981 graduate of Lincoln High School. Rich began working on farms at a very young age.  He later took a job at Clover Matt Dairy where he met his future wife Amy Matthias.  The two were joined in marriage on September 30, 1989 at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Northeim. He later was employed by NE Asphalt and A.C. Fett & Sons as a heavy equipment operator.  Rich currently was employed at Vinton Construction and recently marked 25 years as a member of Operating Engineers Local 139.

Rich loved coyote and deer hunting, tractor pulls, snowmobiling, fishing, “going out to eat”, attending the races at 141 Speedway and most of all his wife, children, family and friends.  You knew how much he liked you by the amount of teasing he gave you.  He loved calling his family and friends and “Going by Roger” every Saturday morning. He was looking forward to a trip to Alaska this year, retiring on his birthday next year and buying a camper to go traveling with Amy. He was always there to help anyone out with any job and he had many friends.  Rich lived a simple and honest life to the fullest, always true to his family and friends and was one of the hardest working guys around.  One of his favorite things to do was cruising around Newton, Newton will not be the same without him.

Survivors include his wife: Amy Hubbartt, Newton; four children: Anna (Travis) Behnke, Kenai, Alaska;  Abby (PJ) Schroeder, Newton; Olivia Hubbartt, Newton; and Andrew Hubbartt, Newton; his mother: Arlene Hubbartt, Newton; three siblings: Gail Ochs, Kiel; Vickie (Frank) Lutz, New Port Richey, Florida; and Brenda (Jerry) Morreau, Newton; in-laws: Christy (Greg) Scheurell, Maribel; Jean Matthias, Germantown; Joy Matthias (Petr Servus), Sutton, Alaska; Marty (Karie) Matthias, Kaukauna; Kathy (Matt) Rezba, Kellnersville.  Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.  He was preceded in death by: his father: Ralph “Dick” Hubbartt; brother-in-law: Paul Ochs; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jon and Dianne Matthias; paternal grandparents: Ralph S. Hubbartt and Doloris Foley; maternal grandparents: John and Cecelia Glomski; as well as other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Newton.  Celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Dave Beaudry.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the church prior to service from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
