Mark Aschenbrenner Obituary

Mark E. Aschenbrenner, 74, of Manitowoc died on Thursday, December 29, 2022 surrounded by the love of his wife, family and friends.

Mark was born on May 23, 1948 in Manitowoc to the late Edward and Arlene (Meisner) Aschenbrenner. He attended schools in Manitowoc, graduating with the class of 1966 of Lincoln High School. Mark then served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, then attended LTC, where he received his degree in marketing. On August 31, 1979 he married his bride, Donna Konop at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Mark continued his career with the Air National Guard in 1981 until his retirement in 1999, retiring as a Tech Sergeant. After retirement he worked at Manitowoc Pharmacies until 2009. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mark loved spending time with Donna and their dog Charlie. Also, Mark enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and driving his BMW. He loved his military job, which gave him the opportunity to travel the world. In addition, Mark appreciated spending time with his neighbors and Planet Fitness members.

He is survived by his loving wife: Donna Aschenbrenner, Manitowoc; his dog: Charlie; one sister: Dorothy Martin, AZ; one sister-in-law: Lois (Al) Kiel, Whitelaw; two nieces: Bridget Berkland, MN, and Kristin (Mark) Eben, Manitowoc; two nephews: Patrick (Nicole) Kiel, Wrightstown, and Todd Klimoski, VT; two special friends: Joe Keil, Manitowoc, and Dan Frank, AL; other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Arlene Aschenbrenner; one brother: James Aschenbrenner; one sister: Karen Amatangelo; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Victor and Agnes Konop; one sister-in-law: Patti Konop; one brother-in-law: Glenn Konop. 

A funeral service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Johnston officiating.  Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society in Mark’s memory.
