John Cain Sr. Obituary

John W. Cain Sr. 95, of Maribel died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born December 29, 1926 in Oconto WI, son of the late James and Maude (Anderson) Cain. John married his “honey” Ethel M. (Kuehl) Cain on July 14, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI.  She preceded him in death on September 29, 2013. John was a Navy World War II Veteran and member of the Denmark V.F.W. Post 6705. He was an entrepreneur as the original owner of Maribel Painters, Central Wisconsin Spray Painting, Cain’s Fish & Sea Food and many more endeavors. His reputation for quality work and customer service was not just known here in East Central and Central Wisconsin (Painting) but also in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota (Fish & Sea Food) where he established a customer base ahead of his time. He worked well beyond his retirement years. He was always remodeling and adding on to the homes he owned which influenced both his sons and daughters to do the same. John and Ethel had a love for camping, leaving Wisconsin for many sunshine destinations as well as belonging to the Paper Valley Break Away and Bay Sammer’s Camping Clubs. He truly missed Mom when she was gone. Growing up his entire extended family also learned the love of camping. He was proud to say we all swam in the Atlantic, Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. Father to 13 children, 31 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren. He knew every word to many songs (Big Band Era, Country, and Blue Grass). He told the best stories about the Navy, Tree Trimming, Painting, and his many, many years of life experiences. All looked forward to seeing him at every family event. He brightened up the room.

He was preceded in death by his middle son: Jason Cain; youngest daughter: Colleen (Cain) Cornell; two grandsons: Cpl. Justin Cain (USMC) and Jamie Cain; He is survived by his children: Candy Smith, Green Bay, Kathleen Cain, OK, John (Jane) Cain, De Pere, Jeffery Cain, Oconto, James Cain, Whitelaw, Jerome (Julie) Cain, Maribel, Melody Cain, Maribel, Joel (Debbie) Cain, Crivitz, Jed (Sheri) Cain, Almond, Shawn Furrh, OK, Jesse (Jenny) Cain, Maribel; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law and their spouses, a special niece: Pat McDougal who was close to his era, other nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
