James E. Madsen, age 88 of Manitowoc, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.
James was born on April 26, 1935 in Menominee, son of the late George and Olive (Carey) Madsen. He served in the United States Army. On July 16, 1960 James married the former Jan Mohr at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. James enjoyed the Silver Sneakers, YMCA, reading, taking naps and going to car shows.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Jan Madsen, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: John (Jean) Madsen, MN, Bill (Lisa) Madsen, Seymour; six grandchildren: Daniel Madsen, MN, Tony Sigl, Green Bay, Michael (Kait) Madsen, San Diego, CA, Kelsey (Gage) Kamp, Appleton, Lilly and LuLu Madsen, Seymour; one great-granddaughter: Lydia Madsen, MN; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Olive Madsen; two brothers; Juel and Carl Madsen; special uncle: Clarice and Mrs. Carol; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Waldo site, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Matt Colle will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow at the Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 12 Noon. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post# 88 at the Mausoleum. The Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Pfeffer Funeral Home location is assisting the family with arrangements.
