George Linzmeier Obituary

George F. Linzmeier, 92, Manitowoc passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

George was born on November 23, 1930 in Luxemburg to the late Charles and Margaret (Simonar) Linzmeier. On August 2, 1951 he married the former Rita Nies at St. John’s Catholic Church in Morrison, WI. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2016. He and Rita were dairy farmers until George’s retirement in 1988. George was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served as an altar server. George also served on the Board of Directors for the Whitelaw Co-op for several years, was a past President and member of the Whitelaw Senior Center, as well as being a former member of the Farm Bureau.  George enjoyed golf, dart ball, bus trips and card clubs.

George is survived by his eight children: Karen (Dave) Krall, Denmark, Dave (Debbie) Linzmeier, Chilton, Linda (Jim) Pike, Beaufort,SC, Ken (Lori) Linzmeier, Appleton, Gary (Jane) Linzmeier, Manitowoc, Dan (Sharon) Linzmeier, Manitowoc, Mark (Peggy) Linzmeier, Sturgeon Bay, and John (Bev) Linzmeier, Whitelaw; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters: Frances Linzmeier, Manitowoc, Mike (Betty) Linzmeier, Appleton, Dick “Richard” (Ginger) Linzmeier, Combined Locks, and Jim Linzmeier, Dyckesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Cyril Nies, Green Bay, and Sophie Biddle, KY. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Margaret Linzmeier; wife: Rita Linzmeier; Seven  brothers and two sisters-in-law: Larry Linzmeier, Donald Linzmeier, Clarence Linzmeier, Al Linzmeier, Bob Linzmeier, Tony Linzmeier, Charlie (Rita) Linzmeier, and Judy Linzmeier; two sisters: Laura Linzmeier, and Dorothy Linzmeier; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Fritz (Beatrice) Nies, Norbert “Brownie” Nies, Earl (Lois) Nies, Terry (Louis) Pansier, Rosie (Bob) Phelps; other in-laws have also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, with Rev. Richard Klingeisen celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the church from 11:00 am until the time of mass at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
