DuWayne Hackmann Obituary

DuWayne A. Hackmann, 76, of Newton, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.

DuWayne was born on January 5, 1946 in Manitowoc to the late Alfred and Elda (Hochkammer) Hackmann. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in 1964. On October 7, 1972, he married the former Kathleen “Kathy” Tauschek. DuWayne dairy farmed for several years and then worked for 22 years at AH Stocks Manufacturing.

DuWayne was a lifelong member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, where he served as a Deacon. Over the years he served on the Newton Zoning Board, Lakefield Telephone Co., and Farm Bureau, and proudly served as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Newton. DuWayne loved woodworking, enjoyed making whirligigs, bird houses and bird feeders, doing yardwork, traveling, especially to Michigan and going out to dinner with his wife, Kathy.

DuWayne is survived by his wife: Kathy; three children: Brian Hackmann, Kristy (Jeff) Chopp, and Brad Hackmann; three grandchildren: Evan, Daniel and Matthew Chopp; and two brothers-in-law: Les Tauschek and Charles Tauschek. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. DuWayne was preceded in death by his parents: Alfred and Elda Hackmann; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Richard and Elayne Tauschek.

A funeral service to celebrate DuWayne’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, with Pastor David Robbins officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Town of Newton Fire Department and First Responders in DuWayne’s memory.
