Dorothy Opichka Obituary

Dorothy A. Opichka, age 80, of Manitowoc, passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2021 at St. Luke Medical Center, Milwaukee.

Dorothy was born on April 7, 1941 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Wencil and Alice (Gill) Schleis. She attended local area schools and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1960. On September 1, 1962 Dorothy married Ronald R. Opichka at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Ron preceded her in death on December 25, 2017. In the past, she worked for Mirro-Foley, retiring in 2001. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her various groups of friends, which usually involved lunch. Dorothy was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include her four children: Gary (Lynn) Opichka, Manitowoc; Diane (John) Dawidowich, Manitowoc; Wendy (Todd) Jaeger, De Pere; Keith (Theresa) Opichka, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren: Drew, Kate, and Mikayla Opichka; Zack, Emily, and Sam Dawidowich; Ethan Jaeger; Owen and Lucas Opichka; one brother and sister-in-law: Jim (Judy) Schleis, Bothell, WA, one brother-in-law: Alvin Leick, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Wencil and Alice Schleis; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Victor and Martha Opichka; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Donald and Marilyn Schleis; Jeanette Leick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.
