Doris Meyer Obituary

Doris M. Meyer was called to her heavenly home on July 17, 2021.

Doris died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at her residence in River Woods Place Senior Living Facility, Manitowoc, Wi.

Born on December 19, 1930 to Elmer and Agnes (Kolbeck) Erdmann in Manitowoc, Wi. Doris grew up and lived her life in the Manitowoc and Valders area. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948 and married Lloyd M. Meyer on April 22, 1950 at St. Andrews Church, Manitowoc. In her younger years she was employed at Erdman Ford and the Manitowoc Credit Union. She retired from Hardow Plumbing in 1992 where she did receptionist, secretarial and bookkeeping work. She was also the bookkeeper for Lloyd’s business, Meyer Drywall.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, and did volunteer work for the church as well as for the Pastoral Care department at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Doris loved music and took private singing lessons for several years. She performed at recitals and was a member of the Manitowoc Chamber Choir. She was also in the church choir at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, Wi and later at St. Thomas. She enjoyed gardening and did a lot of canning. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, cross-stitching and various other crafting activities. She also loved spending time with Lloyd at their cottage on West Bass Lake, Florence County, Wi.

Doris loved dogs and claims that she and Lloyd had at least one dog all the while they were married. Her beloved dog, Maggie, provided love, support, and comfort through the last years of her life when she was suffering with depression, anxiety and dementia.
