Donald Drumm Obituary

Donald G. “Butch” Drumm, age 63, a lifelong resident of Manitowoc went peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday July 10th, at his residence.

Butch was born on March 22,1959 to late Gerald and Elaine (Kraemer) Drumm, of Manitowoc. Butch grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1977. On June 17, 1983, Butch married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lynn M. Braun at Bethany Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Butch and Lynn built a beautiful family together, as they were blessed with three boys Joshua, Ryan, and Kyle. Their sons exhibit the best traits of Butch in all they do. The boys were given the best example of what a strong marriage looks like after watching the love between their parents. 39 years of marriage wasn’t always easy, but always worth it.

Butch dedicated 20 years of his life to the City of Manitowoc Department of Public Works as a mechanic followed by 17 years for the City of Manitowoc Parks Department where he made it his mission to ensure our city was looking beautiful for all to enjoy. Butch had a work ethic that was unmatched and the friendships he made while working at the city meant the world to him. Butch was a talented man who was the first to lend a helping hand and could fix anything and everything. Even after retiring in April of 2014 as Shop Foreman, he enjoyed bringing sweet rolls in for the guys and reminiscing on the good ole days.

Butch was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and the Manitowoc Chapter #138 of the Izaak Walton League of America, mostly known for frying corn at the Manitowoc County Fair. Butch received the Judge Tobin Award and the Rahr Diamond Award from the local chapter for his conservation practices. He was a dedicated caretaker of the Richard Drumm Memorial Forest in the town of Gibson dedicated to his late uncle.

In Butch’s free time, he was likely tinkering on something in the garage, helping rebuild a classic car with his sons and nephew by his side, spending time with his grandkids, or lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Butch enjoyed spending weekends in Lakewood at his family cottage, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and working out at the family tree farm/lot which he and Lynn established in 1988 and have grown immensely. In his younger years, Butch coached his boys and their friends on their youth baseball and wrestling teams. He truly enjoyed watching those around them find success, and have fun.

Butch wore a lot of hats in his lifetime. He was a proud husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. His sense of humor was hard to beat, and he was never at a loss for words. These traits made people want to be around him, so that they didn’t miss out on the latest and greatest “Butchisms”.

Survivors include his wife Lynn Drumm, Manitowoc; three sons and daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren: Josh (Kayla) Drumm and their daughter: Olivia, Ryan (Ashley) Drumm and their children: Reese, Tegan and Brennan, Kyle (Bryana) Drumm and their children: Easton, Mason and Ellison, all of Manitowoc; a fourth “son” Josh (LeAnn) Kuhl and their children: James and Layla: three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Marilyn (Terry) Tuschel, Manitowoc, Judy Fuerbringer, Manitowoc, Carol (Arvid) Green, Albertville, MN; one brother and sister-in-law: Roger (Debbie) Drumm, Green Bay; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Jerry (Shelly) Braun, Manitowoc, Sue (Ted) Torrison, Pound, Christine Braun, Manitowoc, Bob (Laurie) Braun, Manitowoc, Kevin (Barb) Braun, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
