Dennis Parkos Obituary

Dennis R. Parkos, age 86, Manitowoc, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 16, 2024 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Dennis was born in Rice Lake, WI on January 31, 1938 to Joseph and Myrtle (Amans) Parkos. He was a graduate of Algoma High School and served in the United States Navy until he received his honorable discharge. He was employed with Mirro Aluminum in Manitowoc for 40+ years until his retirement.

Dennis was an avid sports fan, especially Football and Baseball. In his younger years, Dennis played baseball/ softball for numerous teams, most memorably for Big Lew’s in Two Rivers. He was an outstanding Baseball player and loved the sport. He spent a great deal of time fishing with family and friends on his favorite lakes in NE WI. He also enjoyed his time spent playing cards with his friends and meeting with fellow Mirror retirees monthly for breakfast.

Dennis is survived by his four children: Brenda (Mark) Smith of Green Bay, Dawn (Bob) Duprey of Oconto Falls, Christine (Peter) Schuh of Green Bay and Brian Parkos (Kristen Cooley) of Cottage Grove. Five Grandchildren- Jessica (Alex) LeRoy, Nicholas Peters, Haley Schuh, Peyton Schuh, and Bodhi Parkos. Four great grandchildren Ella, Zander, Sawyer and Vera. He is further survived by his sister Jeannette Thomas of Two Rivers, four sister in-laws Darlene Parkos, Thelma Parkos, Charlene Parkos, Nancy (Parkos) Duthey and his special friend Cyndie Siehr of Manitowoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Myrtle Parkos Sr.; his brothers, sisters and in-laws: Betty (Lester) Anschutz, Jimmy (Loretta) Parkos, Doris (Ervin) Gillis, Don (Janet) Parkos, Stanley Parkos, Don Thomas, Rosemary (Daniel) Meissner, Diane (Paul) Frenz, Sara Parkos, Joe Parkos Jr, Eugene Parkos, Jerry Parkos and many nieces and nephews.

Military Honors will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans Chapter #731 of Manitowoc held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM.
