PFEFFER KLEIN & STANGEL CHRISTIANSON & DEJA Your Locally Owned Community Funeral Homes & Cremation Care Centers Leonard T. Pfeffer and his wife, Lucy, founded the Pfeffer Funeral Home in 1921. The original site was located at 915 Washington Street, Manitowoc, in conjunction with J. Pfeffer & Sons Furniture Store as was a common affiliation in those days. The present funeral home located at 928 S. 14th Street was built in 1932 and has since been enlarged and remodeled many times to facilitate the changing community needs. The present structure houses all the modern supporting conveniences necessary to serve families in their time of need. As the physical structure of the funeral home has changed throughout our history so has our personnel. Our founders, Leonard and Lucy Pfeffer, died in 1952 and 1974 respectively. Their three sons; Clyde W., Leonard C., and Roy T. Pfeffer continued the operation of the funeral home and in the 1970's they were joined by the third generation of the Pfeffer family; Leonard's son, Steven L. Pfeffer, followed by Clyde D. (Skip) Pfeffer, the son of Clyde who died in 1993. Because of community support and confidence, we have been most fortunate to retain and continue a one-name, family owned, funeral home. The Pfeffer family represents three generations dedicated to the service of the community. While the physical structure and personnel of the funeral home have changed since 1921, our basic concept and dedication to serve families in a courteous, sensitive and caring manner has not and never will be changed. Our family pledges that our present and future years will be governed by our original and present motto: "Known For Service." Our family believes in the value of the traditional full-service funeral. We believe that THE FUNERAL; Helps confirm the reality and finality of death; Provides a climate for mourning and expression of grief; Allows the sorrows of one to become the sorrows of many: Encourages the affirmation of religious faith: Is a declaration that a life has been lived as a well as a sociological statement that a death has occured. While our family believes in the value of the traditional full-service funeral, we realize that there are those for one reason or another who desire than such. That is why our firm offers all the alternatives to a full-service funeral. We offer and provide the community all choices of funeral arrangements whether it be a complete funeral service, memorial service, direct cremation or immediate burial/entombement. We invite you to discuss freely and frankly with us questions you may have regarding any and all aspects of the funeral including our service and our fees. Funeral directors serve best when such service is based on a mutual understanding between them and those who see their services. This should prevail during the arrangements for the funeral and until all the needs and desires of the survivors have been satisfied. We wish to accommodate the families which we serve in every way possible. It is our sincere hope that those we serve always remain our closet friends. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions. It is with these thoughts in mind that we are ever so grateful to all the families who call upon us.
